I don’t know very much about scouting, but being a scout, I believe ‘All the scouts are not leaders but all the
leaders are scouts’- unknown. Though I know very less about scouting program, I
have learned so many values which are very essential in our day to day life
through scouting programs and events.
Most of people feel that scouting is all about
singing funny songs, shouting, working, cleaning dirty dustbins from every
corner which are left behind the closed walls and going for unnecessary
camping. Scouting is not all about that. Behind those funny activities, there
are immense unseen and unnoticed values learned by our students.
In scouting we sing funny songs, yells, cheers, we
shout at the top most voice, and we play different games. These are all funny and
useless activities in the eyes of others but to those learners these are fun
and enriching activities whereby they learn the most.
We go for camping- cleaning and awareness, hiking,
community service, we take care our
nature and we do many more. When they do
these kind of activities, they learn to build interpersonal
relationship, they learn to communicated with others, they know the
realities
of life and they learn to help others. In classroom teaching, they are
taught
these values but they don’t really do it practically. Whereas in
scouting, they
implement those values which they have learned from their parents,
teacher, friends and society and they become better person every day.
