How Fortunate To Be A Daughter

I was not born to a very luxurious or an educated family but I was gifted with really amazing family where peace, tranquility and well being of each and every family member were maintained properly. I felt, wealth is nothing if one is not internally happy and peaceful. Educated parents are worst than uneducated parents if they fail to build proper family relationship. Happiness comes from right understanding and positive relationships between each other.
Though my parents were uneducated, they were born with incredible and very rich beliefs and values to impart to their children and grandchildren.  They have given us the best they can to groom us to be a productive and responsible person in the society. They have worked so hard without proper meals under very harsh weather- in scorching sun, heavy rainfall, dark and gloomy cloudy day, strong windy day, and many more. During night they worked in the dark without sleep. They suffered and sacrificed for the betterment of each of us.
Once I was told by my father, ‘I and your mother, we got married at the age of 16 and your mother gave birth to our first child at the age of 18. During that time, we suffered a lot without having anything. We didn’t have good house, we just had small hurt which was about to fall down, we didn’t have proper clothes to wear, no food to eat, no money, nothing. La ma, I can’t really imagine, we really suffered. Now I am happy with what I have, I and your mother, we did it to our best. We worked day and night without sleep. Now we have everything that we want, we have excess food stored in the store room; we have good farm land (dry and wet), many orange orchard, many cows and horses, now we are satisfied with what we did it so far. Now it’s your time to work’.  I couldn’t really imagine the kind of suffering that they must have faced after listening to what my father’s talk. I was speechless; I didn’t say even a word to my dad. It was really hard for me to even imagine.
Apart from that, they have taught us some other imperishable values - Thadamtse and Layjumdray, how to respect to our elders and to take care of younger ones, how to appreciated our friends, how to be responsible person, how to maintain healthy relationships with neighbors, and they have also taught us the values of our culture and traditions which are very vital to grow and identify ourselves as an individual.
Thank you so much parents. What you have done to me are beyond the description. None of the words can substitute to explain and describe how much I value your help and support. You have given me the best and most incredible gift that I can ever have in my life is “Education”. Thank you so much for putting so much of your effort in giving me education which is the light to the darkness, weapon to protect myself from difficulties, vehicle to take me far way and to unknown destination, key to open the locked doors to explore more about unknown world, and magnet to attract people to make better and stronger relationships. Thank you so much! You are always in my heart.
